New Haven police are looking to identify this man amid a homicide investigation (New Haven police)

While police in New Haven continue to investigate the murder of a convenience store clerk, they are looking to speak with a man seen in surveillance photos taken outside the store.

On Oct. 18, 21-year-old Muhanad Jawad was shot inside his store, the E&M Smokeshop and Convenience Store on Ferry Street. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Just moments after the shooting, police were alerted to a car that may have been involved in the shooting. It was reportedly occupied by four people, and was later identified as a Honda CRV that was stolen recently out of West Hartford.

There was a car chase, leading police to Quinnipiac Avenue, where it hit a home.

Three people were apprehended there.

A fourth was on the loose for a few hours, but was ultimately caught.

As they continue their investigation, detectives are looking at surveillance images from outside the store.

They are looking to identify a man seen in the images, however they are not calling him a suspect at this time.

Police believe Jawad was targeted.

At the time he died, Jawad had several criminal cases pending, including firearm theft, assault on a police officer and drug charges.

Anyone with information should contact police at 203-946-6304.
