Police make an arrest of Waterbury gang member

Police arrested a known gang member for his connection to a shots fired incident (Waterbury PD)

Waterbury Police arrested a member of a gang following a shots fired incident.

Police said the incident happened on Grand Street in January 2018.

The shots fired occurred between two known street gangs called the ATM and 960. Issues between these two gangs have been ongoing and include numerous incidents involving firearms in which several people have been shot or even killed.

Waterbury police have been actively investigating these two gangs and their members for an extensive period of time.

The Waterbury Police Gang Task Force applied for and was granted a warrant for 19-year-old Derrick Fogle, a known ATM gang member.

Fogle was charged with criminal attempted at assault, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm and several other charges.

Police served Fogle with the warrant on August 14 and he will be in court on October 3.
