Fairfield police (generic)

FAIRFIELD, CT (WFSB) -- Fairfield police are looking for a man accused of assaulting a woman behind a restaurant on Monday.

Police said it happened behind Paci Restaurant on Station Street, as the female employee was taking out the garbage.

The woman told police she was grabbed from behind and the male suspect hit her in the face and then stabbed her in the abdomen with an unknown object.

The suspect then fled the scene.

He was described as being tall, wearing a black hat, scarf, and a black jacket.

Police said the victim did not recognize the suspect.

The victim is in stable condition.
