Mansfield Crash

State Police are investigating a deadly head-on crash in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD, CT (WFSB) - Route 32 in Mansfield is back open following a deadly head-on crash Friday morning.

According to CT State Police officials, a 2008 Mazda6i was heading up Stafford Road (Rt. 32) around 9:45 when it suddenly crossed over into the southbound lane, crashing head-on into an oncoming FedEx truck.

The operator of the Mazada6i, 21-year-old Jeffrey Grassette of Ludlow, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead on scene.

State Police say that the driver of the FedEx truck, a 50-year-old Windham man, was not injured.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Part of Rt. 32 near Coventry Road was closed for an extended period of time as a result of the crash, but has since reopened.

This crash remains under investigation by CT State Police.

Officials confirm that Grassette has no known affiliation with UConn.
