Two cars were involved in a crash that caused serious injuries for a driver on the southbound side of Interstate 91 in Windsor on Sunday.

State police said the crash was between exits 36 and 35B, and took place at 9:20 p.m.

Troopers identified the driver who was hurt as 24-year-old Peter Busulwa of East Hartford.

The driver of the other vehicle, 43-year-old Kamal Zouberi of Manchester, was not hurt.

Troopers said they first responded to a report of a disabled vehicle that had caught fire near exit 36.

While they were there, the crash involving Busulwa and Zouberi happened just south of the area.

Police said Zouberi has slowed down to stop for the fiery crash when Busulwa struck a concrete barrier followed by the rear of Zouberi's vehicle.

Busulwa suffered head injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
