Six injured in 3 car accident on Merritt Parkway

Six was injured in three-car accident on Merritt Parkway in Westport. (WFSB)

Crews responded to a 3 car accident on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway in Westport in which 6 people were injured on Sunday.

Assistant Fire Chief Michael Kronick said 3 people were seriously injured, while the other 3 had non-life-threatening injuries.

All of the injured were out of their cars and assumed medical treatment from Westport EMS before being transported to Norwalk Hospital, Chief Kronick said.

The accident took place at about 7:40 p.m.

Eight Westport firefighters, police, and Connecticut State Police responded to the accident which closed the highway for 1 hour. Crews remained to clear the debris from the road.
