Stamford city employee caught stealing, internal review underway


Police said a Stamford High School student died Saturday after she was hit by a car.

Officials said a 18 year-old girl was attempting to cross Strawberry Hill Avenue when she was struck around 7:30 a.m.

Police identified the teen as Karina Tinajero-Arreguin, of Stamford.

She was transported to Stamford Hospital with severe injuries where she later died.

The 37-year-old driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said the student was not using a crosswalk at the time of the incident.

No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

Any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact Stamford Police.
