State Police investigate rest area robbery

Police are looking for the suspect in a robbery at a rest area in Orange. (CT State Police)

State Police troopers are investigating a robbery in Orange early Thursday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at a rest area along the Merritt Parkway and Alltown gas station/convenience store.

Police said employees reported the incident around 3:15 a.m.. The employees told troopers a man came into the store and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving and fleeing the area.

Troopers searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The suspect is described as a white male with light brown or blonde hair and a goatee. Police said he was wearing an orange baseball hat and a grey jacket.
