Traffic stop leads to 'molly' arrest in Willimantic

A man originally stopped for a license plate violation ended up being arrested for having the drug "molly."

Police said Juan Rodriguez-Lopez, 19, was stopped by an officer on Valley Street around 12:45 a.m. on Thursday.

The officer and his K9 discovered 3.7 grams of MDMA hidden within Rodriguez-Lopez's vehicle, according to police.

They drugs were seized and Rodriguez-Lopez was arrested.

Police said they charged him with possession of narcotics with intent to sell near a school, possession of narcotics, failure to display a license plate and driving with a suspended license.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and given a court date of Nov. 7 in Danielson.
