Crews continue to work on making sure a fire is out at a recycling facility in New Haven.

It broke out at Murphy Road Recycling on Wheeler Street around 2 a.m. on Friday.

Firefighters said the business is located in a large industrial complex with many trash and recycling facilities. Murphy Road Recycling is behind the All American Waste Facility.

Fire officials said they found trash on fire inside a metal building.

They said they had heavy fire and smoke at first, but were able to get the flames extinguished.

No one was hurt and the building itself was not damaged.

As of 6 a.m., they were working to make sure the flames didn't flare up again.

"We have on-site people here actually pulling the trash apart for us for us and as they do that, we're wetting down the trash," said Battalion Chief Thomas Neville, New Haven Fire Department.

Firefighters anticipated remaining on scene for another few hours.

New Haven's fire marshal is investigating what started the fire.
