STAMFORD, CT (WFSB) - Vehicles are getting stuck on flooded streets in Stamford and West Haven.
Police warned drivers that East Main Street at Myrtle Avenue, Elm Street at S. State Street, the Research Drive area, and other locations have high water levels.
They urged people to avoid those areas.
Fire units are currently operating at numerous incidents involving vehicles w/ occupants stranded in water. Please do not try & drive through areas of standing water. Flash flooding is occurring throughout area. Avoid driving until after the storm passes.— Stamford Fire (@SFDPIO) July 9, 2021
In West Haven, a Channel 3 crew spotted vehicles getting stuck in standing water on Ocean Avenue.
A flash flood warning was issued southern Fairfield County until later Friday morning due to Tropical Storm Elsa.
A flood watch is in place for the entire state.
