A water main break has been repaired in Bristol.

According to city officials, it happened on Farmington Avenue at Jerome and Mercier avenues.

The westbound side was reduced to one lane of traffic on Friday morning.

According to crews on the scene, two homes used to exist where an AutoZone business is located. When the homes were demolished, the lateral water lines were disconnected at the wrong spot.

One of the service lines split or cracked, releasing a lot of pressure.

Crews cut off the line, removed the pipe and put a cap on the main.

All that was left was to pour asphalt.

As of 7:20 a.m., they said they expected to remain on the scene for an additional hour or two

Customers in the area were said to still have water service.
