Waterbury PD: Man arrested for assault

Waterbury police said a man was arrested after he strangled a person Monday.

Officials said Ashami Curry, 26, of Waterbury strangled a person at the victim's home in Southington.

They said Curry entered the person's home and assaulted them while they were in bed.

The victim had visible injuries but refused medical attention.

Curry fled the scene and was later located by police at his home.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Curry was charged with Assault 3rd degree, strangulation 2nd degree and breach of peace in the 2nd degree.

He is currently being held on $10,000 bond.
