A portion of Main Street in Willimantic was closed Monday night, for wires in the road.

However, firefighters expected it to reopen around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Willimantic fire crews said a pole, wires, and three transformers were down on Main Street, near Stop & Shop.

The cause was a crash, though what led to the crash remains under investigation.

There were more than 800 power outages in the area of Windham, Columbia, Coventry, Andover and Scotland, at one point. As of Tuesday morning, power looked to have been mostly restored, though Eversource remained on the scene.

Main Street is still closed from last night's accident, from Access Agency to Columbia Ave, while Eversource crews work. Current estimate is that it will reopen approximately 3PM. #Willimantic pic.twitter.com/CvpKD4BROa— Willimantic FD (@WillimanticFD) January 9, 2018
