A woman from Plainville faced a judge on Monday after a deadly crash over the weekend.

Officers were called to a crash near a home at 14 Bradley St. just before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, police determined that two female pedestrians were struck by a vehicle driven by 35-year-old, Plainville resident Justine Cusick, and a 59-year-old female was found to be trapped under the driver's front side wheel.

Several officers and civilians had to lift the car off the trapped woman. She was then transported to Hartford Hospital by Life Star medical helicopter where police said she later died on Sunday morning from injuries suffered in the crash.

Police said a 40-year-old woman was hit by the car and had minor injuries.

Police said that Cusick and the pedestrian who died were at the same gathering at 14 Bradley Street on Saturday night. Channel 3 spoke to a friend of the woman who was killed. He said he was very distraught but told Eyewitness News all of them were at a get-together. He added they met Cusick for the first time on Saturday night.

Police said an investigation resulted in Cusick being charged with second-degree manslaughter with a vehicle, misconduct with a vehicle, driving under the influence, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, and unsafe backing.

Cusick was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. The bond for Cusick was lowered after her arraignment on Monday. Her next court appearance is Nov. 14.

The crash is under investigation by the Plainville Police Department and investigators are working to piece together what happened. They are urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call the Plainville Police at 860-747-1616.
