Car found engulfed in flames with wires on it in Danbury

Police have identified a woman killed in a Danbury shooting over the weekend.

They said 31-year-old Sherrie Blount of Danbury was killed after suffering a gunshot wound on South Street.

Police said they responded to 26 South St. on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. after receiving a complaint about shots being fired.

When they arrived, they found Blount and pronounced her dead at the scene.

There's no word on any suspect or a motive.

Police called the investigation "ongoing."

They said they have no information that would lead them to believe there is a danger to the public.
