A teenager was arrested for having a loaded gun and selling drugs during a drug bust in Hartford on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Brian Foley said the 15-year-old boy had a 9mm handgun and was peddling marijuana.
The arrest of the 15-year-old comes after police busted a drug operation the capital city on Wednesday.
“The operation was initiated in response to the numerous complaints for hand to hand narcotics drug transactions, along with a marked increase in shooting related incidents recorded from the targeted area,” police said in a release on Thursday.
In total, police arrested nine adults and two teenagers while seizing the following items: one Hi-Point 9mm semi-auto pistol 59 bags packaged PCP 71 bags of Heroin 5 grams Crack Cocaine one-ounce Liquid PCP 5 packages Suboxone films 25 bags - approx 1/2 ounce packaged marijuana $3,952 While "detectives were covertly surveilling the area of Chappelle Gardens during this operation," police said they spotted a group of people including a 15-year-old involved in "street level narcotics activity."
When the detectives approached the group, that 15-year-old fled from them and tried to get inside a nearby apartment building. Foley said police safely and peacefully disarmed the teen, who was in possession of a loaded 9mm and marijuana packaged for street sale.
Police said the loaded 9mm had obliterator serial numbers, which indicated that the weapon could be a "stolen firearm."
The teen, who was not identified due to his age, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and conspiracy sale of marijuana. The teenager was referred to the Juvenile Detention Center in Hartford.
A 16-year-old boy was also was charged possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
Police also arrested the following nine adults: Jordan Russell, 18, of Hartford, was charged with possession controlled substance, possession of controlled substance with intent to sell and third-degree trespassing. Mark Harris, 40, of Hartford, was charged with possession hallucinogenics, possession of hallucinogenics with intent to sell and possession of controlled substance. Randy Parkman, 40, of Hartford, was charged with possession controlled substance. Nicholas Rush, 25, of New Britain, was charged with possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics. Ron McLaughlin, 44, of unknown location was charged with possession of narcotics. Angel Roman, 30, Hartford, was charged with operating suspended license, no insurance, operating unregistered, wrong way, possession of controlled substance, third-degree trespassing. Carlos Bravo, 59, of Hartford, was charged possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Michael Barone, 30, of Burlington was charged with failure to obey stop sign and possession of narcotics.
