HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (Meredith/WTVR/CNN) -- Some people in Virginia woke up to find old television sets on their front porches.
One surveillance video captured a person wearing TV-shaped headgear while dropping off an old-style CRT TV on someone's doorstep Sunday morning in Henrico County.
Homeowner Jim Brooksbank, who found a 13-inch TV on his doorstep, said the suspect apparently wants to be known as the "TV Santa Claus."
"It’s summer, and people are getting ready to go back to school," Brooksbank said. "Maybe TV man was just ready to strike and put a little humor in our lives."
Henrico police said the outdated boxes were found at more than 50 homes throughout the neighborhood.
"I thought my son brought it home, but apparently not. They had way too much time on their hands if they had all these TVs and spread them all over the neighborhood," said homeowner, Michael Kroll.
According to Henrico police, the only real crime committed was illegal dumping.
"At most this seems to be more of an inconvenience to the community," said Lt. Matt Pecka.
He said the department believes there may be more than one person responsible for delivering the TVs.
Officers and county workers spent Sunday morning picking up the old units and hauling them away.
