Police lights tape generic

ROCKVILLE, Utah (Meredith) -- Police say a suspect has been apprehended after an active shooter situation in Rockville, Utah Wednesday evening.

Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place after a suspect in a high-speed chase fired shots at six vehicles, local authorities said.

Route 9 is open, and traffic is moving slowly through the area, police said.

“There is still an active crime scene in the area and some roads may still be closed for investigation,” police said in a social media post.

The suspect reportedly led police on a high-speed chase on Route 9 leading to Zion National Park, where at least six cars were shot at, according to St. George News. One of the vehicles, a Maserati, had its windows shot out, witnesses said.

The suspect eventually fled his vehicle on foot.

Police say more information will be released at a later time.
