Dump truck rollover spills sand over I-395 south in Norwich

Interstate 395 southbound was closed Monday morning because of a dump truck rollover.

The left lane has since been reopened.

The Department of Transportation said the rollover was between exits 13 and 11 in Norwich. It happened shortly after 10 a.m.

A two mile backup was reported as of 1 p.m.

Traffic was being diverted off of exit 14.

There's no word on a cause or injuries.

State police said a load of sand spilled onto the highway. See some photos of the mess here.

Cleanup was underway.
