Man found dead in vehicle on Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD, CT (WFSB) - The death of a man found in a vehicle on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield has been deemed suspicious, police said.

The person who died was identified as 21-year-old Hector Manuel Ortiz-Rivera of Bristol.

At around 10:44 p.m. on Friday, officers said they were called to the area of Berlin Turnpike near the Jordan Lane Extension to check on a car that had been parked with its headlights on for an extended period, according to the police department.

When crews arrived, they found a 2025 Honda HRV with the operator unresponsive inside.

Police said there were no other individuals on scene.

Medical examiner takes custody

Ambulance personnel arrived on scene and presumed the operator deceased.

Detectives responded to the scene and are actively investigating the incident.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the deceased for further investigation.
