UConn Hockey team ready for some home cooking

STORRS, CT (WFSB) - UConn Hockey team is ready for some home cooking.

The Huskies have played 8 of their first 10 games on the road, winning four, losing three and one tie.

Their two home games, one at the Toscano Family Ice Forum and one at the XL Center, were loses.

Four of UConn’s next six will be at home, starting Friday night at Toscano.

“I think it’ll be great, I mean three of the last five Thursdays, you’re getting on a bus, you’re going on the road,” said UConn men’s hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh. “For us to be able to be home on Thursday night and play a game on Friday, it’ll be a nice change for us, but I also think playing on the road can harden your team. And I think that pays dividends later in the season. It’s hard to win on the road in college hockey, it really is. We’ve played pretty well on the road, except for Friday night. We really have”.

The Huskies play Merrimack Friday night at 7 p.m.
