UConn Women’s Hockey falls to Northeastern in Hockey East Semifinals

STORRS, CT. (WFSB) - Sometimes certain teams just have your number. Despite UConn having 22 wins on the year, none of them came against Northeastern.

The Huskies went 0-3 against them in the regular season, but their loss in the Hockey East semifinals on their home ice hurts the most.

Riley Grimley’s power play goal in the second period swung the momentum in UConn’s favor and put Northeastern on its heels.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead into the final period, but three unanswered goals by Northeastern brought their season to a close.

The seniors graduating are leaving their mark as the winningest class in program history.

They’re now passing the puck to those returning next season, who Head Coach Chris MacKenzie expects to have a chip of their shoulders.

Storrs is still the host site of the Hockey East championship game, which will be played on Saturday at noon.
