UConn Men’s Hockey loses to Maine

HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - The UConn men’s hockey team lost in the East Championship game.

The huskies lost to the University of Maine in the championship game of Hocky East.

The Hockey East is one of the best conferences in the country.

Most of the teams in the conference earned national rankings this year.

The Huskies won all three of their matchups against Maine during the regular season. Two of those games went into overtime.

Huskies trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-0 midway through the second period on Friday’s game.

Tabor Heaslip got UConn on the board midway through the second to make it 3-1.

Maine went back up by three goals before Heaslip scored again to make it 4-2.

The Bears scored an empty netter to seal the win.

Due to their outstanding playing during the regular season, the Huskies have already punched their ticket to the national tournament.

Selection Sunday is this Sunday, the Huskies will be going to the tournament for the first time ever.
