UConn beats Quinnipiac 4-1, to face winner of Penn State and Maine in NCAA Tournament

ALLENTOWN, PA. (WFSB) - The UConn men’s hockey team beat instate rivals Quinnipiac 4-1 Friday to advance in the NCAA tournament.

The win was a dominant one for the team, who are making their first ever appearance in the competition

Scoring was spread around for the Huskies with Tristan Fraser, Ethan Gardula, Hugh Larkin, and Joey Muldowney getting on the stat sheet. Jeremy Wilmer got the lone goal for the Bobcats.

“It feels great to I told the guys it’s a. Rough tournament to play in. Every one here is the cream of the crop. We have to bring our A game. And I thought we did. We got off to a good start. And when they made it 2-1. That was a big goal by Tristian Fraser to make it 3-1,” said Head Coach Mike Cavanaugh.

“The guys played unbelievable defensively. They made my job really easy tonight. All the credit goes to them,” said Freshman Goaltender Callum Tung.

They will play the winner of Penn State-Maine on Sunday for the chance to go to the Frozen Four in St. Louis, Missouri.
