The Travelers Championship will be the final signature event on this season’s PGA Tour

CROMWELL, CT (WFSB) - The only PGA Tour event in the northeast will be its final event of the season.

The Travelers Championship tees off next month at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

Organizers said this year’s player field includes an abundance of the world’s top golfers, including Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland, Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Russell Henley, and Maverick McNealy.

They’ll be vying for a $20 million purse.

Scheffler won the 2024 tournament.

“Travelers has played a critical role in our shared goal of becoming one of the best events on the PGA TOUR, leading us to eventually become a Signature Event,” said Nathan Grube, Travelers Championship tournament director. “We are fortunate to have them as our title sponsor, and we appreciate their long-standing commitment. We also couldn’t do it without the support from others in our community, including the state of Connecticut, corporate partners, tournament volunteers and our passionate fans. Our team is working hard to deliver another exceptional experience for everyone at TPC River Highlands this June.”

Since Travelers became the title sponsor in 2007, organizers said the tournament has generated record amounts for local charities, including the most ever in 2024 at $3.2 million which was distributed to 206 organizations.

The tournament runs from June 18-22.
