Travelers Championship amps up security

CROMWELL, Conn. (WFSB) - When it comes to the Travelers, security is always important.

This year, security has been strengthened.

Last year, on the last day of the tournament at the 18th hole, a small group of environmentalists showed up.

They ran onto the green with canasters of colored smoke and paint.

“It is a little bit more security than when I was here in 2018, and a lot more security than it was. For a good reason, yes. I understand it. I don’t mind it,” said Mark Kucky, Stratford.

The Travelers and Cromwell police do not want to go into specific details about what security measures they have taken this year.

But, they say they take security seriously and want everyone to be safe.

Extra security means it may take a little more time getting into the Travelers, especially this weekend when they are expecting thousands of fans.
