UConn hockey drops the puck this weekend against nationally-ranked opponents

STORRS, CT (WFSB) - The University of Connecticut’s men’s and women’s hockey teams are in action this weekend against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents.

Women face Princeton

The No. 11 women’s team welcomes No. 15 Princeton to the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs for a two-game series.

The first is Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The second matchup is Saturday at 1 p.m.

UConn said the games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Huskies defeated No. 9 Clarkson in their last game, but split the series.

Their record as of Friday morning was 2-2.

Senior forwards Brooke Campbell and Megan Woodworth are UConn’s leading goal scorers.

Goalie Tia Chan, meanwhile, leads the Hockey East in save percentage at 0.948. She has made 127 saves through the first four games of the season.

Men’s home opener Friday night

The men’s home opener is Friday at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. It’s against No. 16 Ohio State. The puck drops at 7 p.m.

They’ll play the Buckeyes again on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the PeaplesBank Arena in Hartford.

Those games will also steam on ESPN+.

They opened the season on Oct. 3 by splitting a season with Colorado College. They lost the first game 4-2, but won the second on Oct. 4, 5-1.

UConn said the top returning goal scorer in college hockey, Joey Muldowney, scored two goals in the two games against Colorado College.
