Big East fines UConn’s Hurley $25,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct

(WFSB) - The Big East has fined UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley $25,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct in the closing seconds of the March 7 game at Marquette.

With one second remaining, Hurley received two technical fouls for aggressively confronting a game official, was ejected, and then failed to leave the court in a timely manner, according to the Big East.

Initial speculation on the game broadcast indicated possible contact between Hurley and the official. However, a review by the conference office of the officials’ game report and available game footage could not confirm physical contact.

“We hold our coaches to high standards of sportsmanlike conduct during game competition, and inappropriate interactions with our officials will not be tolerated,” Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman said.
