Woman electrocuted by power lines following severe storms
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) - A woman was electrocuted after storms rolled through the area, knocking down a power line in southeast Charlotte.
Officials said that a 37-year-old woman was electrocuted on the night of Tuesday, July 7.
A neighbor, Scott Mallonee, said that he heard a bunch of pops outside of his home on Tuesday night. When he came outside to look, he saw a power line that had snapped and caught on fire.
Mallonee said that he went to check on his neighbor, and that’s when he saw a woman’s body on the ground. He said he then alerted the fire department.
Video obtained by WBTV appeared to show the moments before the power line snapped and caught fire. The video appeared to show a person walking quickly towards the fire before the video stopped.
It was not immediately clear how the woman got electrocuted.
The identity of the woman was not immediately released at the time of this writing.
