Hundreds set to gather in Plainville for Petit Family Foundation 5K honoring Cheshire home invasion victims

PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WFSB) - The 19th annual Petit Family Foundation 5K is underway Sunday morning at Plainville High School, honoring Jennifer, Hayley, and Michaela Petit, three women killed in the 2007 Cheshire home invasion.

The event is open to runners, walkers, and spectators. Online registration has closed but on-site registration is available at Plainville High School.

Event schedule

• 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. — On-site registration
• 8:30 a.m. — Free fun run for children
• 8:45 a.m. — Runners and walkers line up at the starting line
• 9:00 a.m. — Main race and fitness walk begin

About the foundation

Every dollar raised goes toward the Petit Family Foundation’s mission of educating young people, supporting those living with chronic illness, and protecting those affected by violence. Hundreds of participants have shown up at the starting line each year for 19 years.
