UConn dropped to No. 6 in the AP Top 25 Men’s Basketball Poll when its update was posted on Monday.
The Huskies suffered a 68-62 loss to unranked Marquette in their regular season finale on Saturday. They were the only team in the top 5 to lose last week.
Coach Dan Hurley was ejected in the game’s final second. The Big East Conference later announced that he was fined $25,000 for making contact with a referee.
The Huskies now shift their focus to Thursday and the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden, which for them may start with a rematch against 7th-seeded Marquette.
UConn is the second seed.
Marquette plays 10th-seeded Xavier on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the tournament’s first round.
The winner gets UConn in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on FS1.
Should UConn advance, they’ll play in the semifinals on Friday at 8 p.m.
The Big East Tournament Championship is set for Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
