Multiple homes catch fire after lighting strikes

A home was hit by lightning this afternoon in Southington.

Conn. (WFSB) - Homes in Southington and Naugatuck caught on fire after being struck by lightning.

In Naugatuck, The fire department responded to a house on Chestnut Street.

They say the home caught on fire after being struck by lightning but was quickly brought under control.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and there was no structural damage to the home, according to fire officials.

In Southington, a porch caught on fire at a home on Mountain Pond Road.

The Southing Fire Department said the homeowner informed them the fire started from a lightning strike.

The porch was destroyed but the fire did not reach the rest of the home.

One firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion but is expected to be okay.
