(WFSB) - National health officials said more cases and an additional death were reported from a multi-state listeria outbreak that stemmed from Boar’s Head deli meat.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provided an updated food safety alert on Thursday.

Since the initial update at the end of July, the CDC said there were nine more cases, which brought the total to 43.

Three deaths were reported as of the update. One was from Illinois, one was from New Jersey, and the third was from Virginia.

The recall was first issued on July 26 and was expanded on July 30. It included all Boar’s Head products, including prepackaged deli products. Health safety officials told consumers to look for “EST. 12612″ or “P-12612″ inside the USDA mark of inspection on the product labels.

The expanded recall labels can be viewed below:

The CDC reported that the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Division of Food Safety and Inspection collected unopened Boar’s Head liverwurst products from retail stores and the New York State Food Laboratory identified Listeria monocytogenes. It was determined to be the same strain as the strain making people sick in this outbreak.

A lawsuit was filed in New York District Court on Aug. 1.

The CDC advised consumers to not eat recalled deli products and throw them away or contact stores about returns.
