Firefighter extinguished large shed from possible explosion and rescued 1 burn victim

WESTFIELD, CT (WFSB) - Firefighters responded to a significant shed fire in Westfield on Sunday morning, which reportedly involved an explosion and left one civilian injured.

The Westfield Fire Department was dispatched to the Delwood and Grove Hill area around 9 a.m. to tackle the fire.

Middletown Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.

The fire was brought under control quickly.

However, one individual suffered burns and was transported via LifeStar to Bridgeport Hospital.

The current extent of the patient’s injuries is not yet known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by both the Westfield Fire Marshal’s Office and the State of Connecticut Fire Marshal’s Office.
