1.8 magnitude earthquake reported in Moodus

MOODUS, Conn. (WFSB) - An earthquake was reported in Moodus on Saturday afternoon.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 5:13 p.m. near the intersection of Cherry Swamp Road and North Moodus Road.
Officials recorded a 1.8 magnitude.
Moodus has a history of experiencing small to moderate earthquakes, as well as “Moodus Noises”.
Moodus Noises are noises and related earthquaking that emanate from an area south of the Salmon River that has been ongoing for centuries.
