Former Connecticut official, state representative facing new charges in federal indictment

A former state official at the center of a state contract scheme is now facing new federal charges.

HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A former state official and representative are at the center of a Connecticut contract scheme, they are now facing new federal charges.

Kosta Diamantis is now accused of taking a bribe from former State Representative Chris Ziogas to scrub an audit accusing Ziogas’ fiancé, an eye doctor in Bristol of defrauding Medicaid.

The federal indictment said Diamantis took over $600,000 in bribes from Ziogas and his fiancé's office.

Last year, Diamantis was hit with 22 counts for extortion and bribery for allegedly using his status as deputy budget chief for the state to steer no-bid contracts to benefit himself and his daughter.
