Fire damages several businesses in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - An investigation is underway after a fire damaged multiple businesses in Stamford on Friday morning.

According to the Stamford Fire Department, at around 4:45 a.m. firefighters were deployed to the scene of Bedford Street for reports of a structure fire.

When crews arrived they found smoke coming from the first floor of a commercial building.

The building contained several businesses that include:

  • Whim Womens Clothing (1st floor)
  • Atelier Valoar Couture clothing (1st floor)
  • Women’s Business Development Council (2nd floor)
  • Chez Vous Bistro Restaurant (1st floor)
  • Deco Fine Arts and Framing (1st floor)

Firefighters pushed hose lines into the rear of the Chez Vous Bistro Restaurant.

Officials said the heavy fire was located in the walls and ceiling of the occupancy that ended up extending to the second floor and roof impacting the other businesses on the first floor.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
