UConn goalie signs deal with New York Rangers

STIRRS, CT (WFSB) - The University of Connecticut’s freshman goalie signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers.

UConn reported on Tuesday that 21-year-old Callum Tung of Port Moody, British Columbia, signed the 3-year deal.

The Rangers, and their developmental affiliate the Hartford Wolf Pack, described the deal as an amateur tryout agreement.

In Tung’s lone season with the UConn men’s hockey team, he helped his team finish with a 10-4-1 record.

He had a .933 save and a 2.01 GAA.

Tung also helped the Huskies get two wins in the NCAA Tournament over Boston University and Quinnipiac.

UConn said Tung marks the 10th player from its program to reach the NHL.
