Hospital of Central Connecticut holds emergency simulation training

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WFSB) - The Hospital of Central Connecticut wants to make sure its ready for any type of emergency.

The hospital teamed up with police, fire crews and city leaders today -- to simulate a mass casualty event at willow brook park.

The simulation functions like a stress test for disaster response.

“What’s great is it allows to do some hands on work, do some triage of patient care and then move these patients to the hospital,” said Hartford Healthcare EMS Director of Network Development Todd Jones.

“These are so important right, so were able to test our capabilities and understand where our gaps are. Then throughout the year continuing to work on improving and looking to narrow those gaps and work together with our partners.”

Officials said they’ll use the lessons learned on Monday, to adjust emergency protocols.

They hope it will lead to even more organized responses to potential real-world crises.
