UConn returns home to face UAB to start 3-game homestand

EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - UConn’s football team returns home for a three-game stretch at Rentschler Field.

The Huskies face the University of Alabama Birmingham on Saturday at noon.

UConn is coming off a 37-34 double-overtime loss to Rice last week. It was the team’s third loss of the season.

UConn and UAB met for the first time last fall. The Huskies scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to erase a 20-3 Blazers lead. They ended up winning 31-23 on the road.

If the Huskies defeat the Blazers this time, they’ll become bowl eligible for the second straight season.

The last time UConn earned back-to-back bowl appearances was in 2009 and 2010.
