Mother and aunt appear in court in death of Jacqueline Torres Garcia

TORRINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - The mother and aunt of Jacqueline Torres Garcia were on the docket to appear in court Friday in connection with the 12-year-old’s death.

Karla Garcia, the child’s mother, is charged with murder. Her sister, Jackelyn Garcia, is charged with child cruelty.

Both were due in Torrington Superior Court and have pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors claim the child was abused and starved to death. Her body was discovered behind an abandoned house in New Britain in Oct. 2025.

Karla Garcia’s former boyfriend is also charged with murder in connection with the case and has pleaded not guilty.
