CPSC blocks more than 350,000 counterfeit squishy toys from entering US market

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning parents about knockoff squishy toys.

WASHINGTON (WFSB) - The Consumer Product Safety Commission said it has prevented more than 350,000 counterfeit versions of popular squishy toys from entering the United States.

The CPSC said the fake products could burst and cause severe burns if exposed to heat or direct sunlight.

Regulators offered the following guidance for parents:

  • Purchase the toys only through reputable sellers
  • Be cautious of bargain-priced products
  • Check packaging carefully
  • Inspect the toys regularly
