Police arrest convicted felon with loaded handgun

NEW LONDON, CT (WFSB) - Police arrested a convicted felon on weapons charges early Saturday.

At about 4:14 a.m., New London Police officers conducted an investigatory stop of a male seated in a vehicle in the area of Golden St/Green St.

Upon approach, officers had contact with the lone occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Maurice Milligan.

Officers were already on scene of another shooting investigation in the area.

As Milligan exited his vehicle, he was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm in his waistband.

Milligan was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, carrying a weapon in a vehicle. and illegal possession of a firearm while under the influence.

At this time, Milligan’s firearm arrest appears to be unrelated to the shooting investigation being conducted in the area of Golden St/Eugene O’Neill Dr., however it should be noted that both cases are still actively under investigation.
