Bridgeport man sentenced for narcotics trafficking

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - A Bridgeport man was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison for narcotics trafficking.
Joshuwa Diaz, 34, pleaded guilty in February to possession with intent to distribute the controlled substances.
The plea followed his February 16, 2024, arrest during a search of his New Haven apartment, where authorities found approximately 75 grams of fentanyl, 278 grams of cocaine, 47 grams of crack cocaine, and a loaded P80 pistol with no serial number.
Diaz was sentenced to 60 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
He is currently out on a $50,000 bond, is due to begin serving his sentence on September 10 .
This marks at least Diaz’s second federal offense.
In April 2013, he was sentenced in New Haven federal court to 78 months for distributing heroin
The investigation was led by the DEA’s New Haven Task Force, alongside U.S. Marshals, IRS–Criminal Investigation, Connecticut State Police, and several municipal police departments.
