E.O. Smith High welcomes students back for first day of school

MANSFIELD, CT (WFSB) - Students headed back to class at E.O. Smith High School on Friday.

Students from towns across the region, including Mansfield, Ashford, and Willington, returned to the classroom on Friday morning to kick off the new school year.

Faculty and staff greeted students with excitement as they arrived on campus, ready to start a fresh academic chapter.

School officials said E.O. Smith offers a wide variety of academic programs, including a well-regarded agricultural curriculum that takes advantage of the school’s rural setting.

The program gives students hands-on experience and real-world learning opportunities in agriculture, plant science, and animal care.

While the school is located just minutes from the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus, E.O. Smith has its own proud identity, fostering Panther pride among its students and staff.

School officials said there are also a few new changes this year aimed at improving the student experience, which they hope will make the return to school even smoother.
