No. 4 UConn men’s basketball takes down No. 22 Michigan State
Huskies wrap up preseason at PeoplesBank Arena
HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - The UConn men’s basketball team wrapped up the exhibition season Tuesday night against Michigan State at PeoplesBank Arena.
The No. 4 Huskies defeated the No. 22 Spartans 76-69 in Hartford.
The game tipped off at 7:30 p.m. and was broadcast live on Channel 3.
UConn lead wire-to-wire, and was up by as many as 19 points in the second half.
Alex Karaban and Solo Ball tied for the game high with 18 points apiece.
Jayden Ross was the third Husky in double-figures with 13 points in 22 minutes off the bench.
The matchup featured two top programs, with Michigan State coach Tom Izzo bringing his characteristically physical squad to Hartford. UConn coach Dan Hurley expressed excitement about the challenge ahead.
“We are going to use [Tuesday] night as the last quiz,” Hurley said, speaking about the game in academic terms.
The game served as an opportunity for the two coaches to see their squad’s strengths and weaknesses.
Pregame coverage began at 7 p.m. on Channel 3 and was followed by the 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
Postgame coverage aired immediately following the contest.
