UConn fans gather at watch parties for national championship game
(WFSB) - Watch parties were planned for both UConn students and the general public.
The university itself planned two while a number of restaurants, breweries, clubs, and other businesses planned their own.
No. 2 UConn fell 69-63 to No. 1 Michigan Monday in Indianapolis
As Gampel Pavilion on the Storrs campus was undergoing renovations, watch parties were split between the Toscano Ice Arena and Marrone Stadium. Tickets were not easy to get, and the anticipation for Monday night was high.
“I’m very excited. This is my first year here as a UConn student so really feeling the school spirit. Just love seeing the campus ignite with a passion for college basketball,” said Charlie Brockvogel, a UConn freshman.
“The vibes are high on campus. Everyone is going to a watch party. We have fans in Indianapolis right now. I think we could genuinely win it,” said Bala Ramkumar, a UConn freshman.
Marrone Stadium can hold more than 5,000 fans. The temperature will be hovering around 40 degrees for tip off.

- UConn Storrs campus: Students only at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium and the Toscano Family Ice Forum
- Huskies Restaurant & Bar, Storrs: Doors open at 5 p.m.
- Hops 44, Storrs: Doors open at 5 p.m.
New Haven County
- Riva Bar & Restaurant, West Haven
- Roses Tavern, Naugatuck
- Brewbury, Middlebury: Doors open at 5 p.m.
- Center Street Brewing, Wallingford: Doors open at 7 p.m.
- Eli’s on Whitney, Hamden
Middlesex County
- Mezzo Grille, Middletown: Doors open at 6 p.m.
