Travelers Championship media day highlights changes for 2026 tournament

CROMWELL, CT. (WFSB) - Journalists from across New England gathered at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell for Travelers Championship media day, where officials outlined changes coming to this year’s tournament.

The 2026 Travelers Championship is 47 days away. Tournament organizers said they are working to improve the event.

Nathan Grube said the tournament is introducing a smart map feature for the first time.

“We actually have been building, with the PGA Tour, a smart map for the first time. To where people actually can sit there on their phones, see where all the players are on the property. See where hey, where’s the closest free fan venue, where’s the closest place to eat, where’s the closest restaurant and it takes you there,” he said.

The field will include New England native and reigning champion Keegan Bradley, who is going for his third win in the last four years.

“I need to be a good role model for the kids the crowd that are coming from Vermont or Maine or Boston, that are coming down to see. This is their one chance to see PGA Tour golf and I want to represent them in the right way,” he said.

Bradley won last year’s tournament with an epic comeback. He said he and his children are hoping to earn more hardware next month.

“For the kids to get trophies, they love it so much, and it’s such a small thing that the travelers does, but it makes a huge impact on our boys,” he added.

The PGA is expected to make an announcement at the Travelers about the future of the tour. After changing broadcast partners, the location of the Travelers Championship has been a topic of conversation.

Andy Bessette said the tournament will continue.

“We’re going to keep pushing, keep going and have a lot of fun. Build it build it bigger and better than ever like Keegan said. We’re going to build it bigger and better and as long as we have the support of the players, the wives, the families, the kids, the everybody, the media and the fans, we’ll be here,” he said.

The Travelers Championship is scheduled for June 22-28 in Cromwell.
