Man arrested after stabbing Stamford bar owner in the face after being kicked out from business

STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A Stamford man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a bar owner in the face after being kicked out of the establishment earlier this month.

Officers were called to Stamford Hospital at around 12:38 a.m. after a man suffering from a serious jaw injury arrived, according to the police department.

Investigators determined the assault had occurred at a downtown bar.

What happened

The victim, a Stamford bar owner, told police he kicked out a man after the he was reportedly harassing staff and other customers.

A short time later, the suspect came back through a back entrance and allegedly stabbed the victim in the face with a sharp object before fleeing the scene.

Officials said the victim received 16 stitches at a nearby hospital.

The investigation

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and on July 23rd and released a still image of the suspect on social media, requesting the public’s help in identifying him.

The department received several tips and phone calls in response.

The tips led investigators to identify the suspect as 36-year-old Sebastian Mardirossian of Stamford.

The victim positively identified Mardirossian as the individual responsible for the assault.

The arrest

An arrest warrant was granted and Mardirossian is now facing the following charges:

• Assault (second-degree)
• Breach of peace
• Criminal trespass

He voluntarily turned himself in at Stamford Police Headquarters on Monday, July 27th.

Mardirossian was taken into custody without incident.

He was held on a $75,000 court-set bond.
